Arbutus unedo

Description

A compact evergreen, the strawberry tree has toothed leaves, white flowers in September and spherical strawberry-like fruit from the previous years flowers. It is called unedo, as supposedly you would only eat the fruit once. The bark is attractive and cinnamon coloured. Prefers a sunny and sheltered position. 8 x 8m.
