Description

Pseudopanax ferox, commonly known as the Savage Lancewood, is a New Zealand native found in both North and South Islands.  This species is now comparatively rare in the wild.

It is a striking slow-growing, architectural plant with slender trunk and long, toothed leaves. It prefers well drained, lime free soil and grows in sun or part shade.  Good for modern, jungle or woodland plant schemes and looks striking silhouetted against a backdrop of wall, brick or glass.  The juvenile stage of this plant can last up to 15 years when the leaf shape changes to adult form, which is shorter and wider. 5m x 1m
